A Quick Look
Leonia Chamber Musicians Society, Inc. –
In 1973 a small group of professional musicians who live in Leonia and
play in the major concert halls of New York City joined together to give
chamber music concerts in our own town. Since then the Leonia Chamber
Musicians have performed over 100 of the great pieces of chamber music,
featuring masterworks for small ensemble by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms,
Mozart as well as compositions by the foremost composers of the 20th
century.
The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society, Inc. was organized in June 2009 as
a New Jersey not-for-profit corporation in order to facilitate a financial
base, through donations and grants, to provide high quality chamber
music concerts in the same tradition as the original group.
The mission of the group is to enrich the cultural environment of our own
and the surrounding community. Our goal is to educate the audience about
different periods and styles of music in a way that engages the audience
and stimulates an increased interest and appreciation of chamber music.
The professional musicians who are members of the Society live in Leonia
and perform in the major concert halls of New York City as well as teach
and perform throughout the New York City area and the state of New
Jersey. Leonians have a unique opportunity to hear their neighbors play in
the intimate chamber surroundings of our local venues.
Students may attend concerts without charge, and Seniors have reduced
ticket rates with easy accessibility to all concert locations. The Leonia
Chamber Musicians provide a cultural component and the joy of music to
life in Leonia.
